AUTOMATED GOOGLE REVIEW REQUESTS: HOW IT WORKS

You mark the job done, and your customer gets a quick check-in, then a Google review request with a direct link, then a reminder if they forget. That's the whole idea, and below is every step, the exact messages your customers get and how opting out works.

If you already know you want it handled, here's ours: Google review requests after every job, done for you. If you're still weighing up review software against a service, Google review management for tradies compares the options.

Check-in, request, reminders, replies

SETUP TAKES A FEW MINUTES OF YOUR TIME

Setup happens once. You tell us how you record finished jobs, add us as a manager on your Google Business Profile, and send a list of your customers from the last year if you have one. Then there's a short call where we work out when the messages should go out and read you the wording, so we can change anything that doesn't sound like you.

You can approve the final messages before anything is sent if you want to. It's live within 72 hours of us having what we need.

EVERY STEP, FROM FINISHED JOB TO REPLY

1

You mark the job done

This is your only ongoing job. Use whatever already works for your crew: a quick form on your phone with the customer's name and mobile, a text, an export from your job app, or something else you already do when a job's finished. We fit around how you work, so there's no new app to learn.

2

A friendly check-in

Your customer gets a short message from your business checking that everything looks good with the work. If they reply with a problem, it comes to you so you can sort it out. You get a week or two to fix it, and then the review request goes out anyway, because every customer gets asked.

3

The review request, by text and email

Next comes the review request, sent by text and email at the same time, with a direct link to your Google review page. Your customer taps the link, picks their stars and writes a line or two, without having to search for your business first.

4

Up to three reminders, then it stops

If they don't click, a reminder goes out a few days later, up to three in total, a few days apart. The moment they click the link or opt out, the reminders stop.

5

Past customers, asked slowly

Customers from the last year who were never asked get the review request too, a few each day and never all at once. Most businesses have a lot of happy past customers who were never asked, and this is often where the first big lift in reviews comes from. Anyone you'd rather we didn't ask, like a customer you're in a dispute with, is left off the list.

6

A reply to every new review

Each new review gets a thank-you reply written for it. When a tough one comes in, it's your call: answer it yourself, or a calm, professional standard reply goes out for you. Either way it doesn't sit there unanswered.

7

Updates on how it's going

You get an update after your first week and again at 30 days, showing how many customers were asked, how many new reviews came in and how many got a reply. After that the updates keep coming regularly, so you always know where things stand.

THE THREE MESSAGES YOUR CUSTOMERS GET

These are the starting versions. You can choose these, choose some other templates we offer, or change the words on the setup call so they sound like you.

CHECK-IN

Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Business]. Just checking in to make sure everything looks good with the work we did.

REVIEW REQUEST (TEXT AND EMAIL AT THE SAME TIME)

Thanks again for choosing [Business]. If you've got 30 seconds, would you mind sharing your experience in a quick Google review? It really helps other locals know they can trust us. [Direct review link]

REMINDER (ONLY IF THEY HAVEN'T CLICKED)

Just following up. If you haven't had a chance yet, we'd really appreciate a Google review. [Direct review link]

Every text also tells your customer how to opt out, with "Reply STOP to opt out", and every email has an unsubscribe link.

CONSENT AND OPTING OUT, IN PLAIN WORDS

Your customers gave you their mobile and email when they booked the job, and every message is about work you did for them. Each one names your business, so they know exactly who it's from, and each one gives them an easy way out. Once someone opts out, they get no more review messages from you.

Past customers get the same treatment: your business named and the opt-out in every message. A clear sender, a real reason to get in touch and an easy way to opt out are what Australia's Spam Act asks of messages like these.

Every customer you mark as done gets the same request, whatever we think they'll say. Google doesn't allow sending only the happy customers to your review page, and it doesn't allow rewards for reviews either, so neither happens here.

WHAT IT COSTS

Ours is A$297 + GST a month (A$326.70), with no setup fee. It's month to month, and if you don't get more Google reviews in your first 30 days, your first month is refunded in full, as long as you're finishing jobs and marking them done. Review management pricing: A$297 + GST a month, no lock-in has the full breakdown.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Will my customers feel pestered?

No. Each customer gets a quick check-in, one review request and, only if they forget, up to three reminders a few days apart. Clicking the link or opting out stops the reminders.

Who do the messages come from?

Your business. Every message carries your business name, and the wording is set up to sound like you.

What do I have to do each week?

Mark jobs done. Everything after that, from the check-in to the replies, is handled for you.

Can you only ask the customers who'll leave five stars?

No. Google doesn't allow it, so every customer you mark as done gets the same request. The check-in gives you a chance to fix a problem first, and then they're asked like everyone else.

What happens if someone leaves a bad review?

You choose. Answer it yourself, or a calm, professional standard reply goes out for you.

Do the reviews stay if I stop?

Yes. Your business owns its Google profile, and the reviews stay there if you stop the service, subject to Google's rules.

GET REVIEWS FROM EVERY JOB, WITHOUT ASKING

You mark the job done, and the check-in, the request, the reminders and the replies happen while you get on with the next one.
